Expressing Time

There are many ways to express time.

J’ai choisi des macarons il y a deux jours.

1. since and for …. depuis
2. since …. depuis que
3. since as a cause …. Verbe–ant
4. ago …. il y a
5. for + time expression …. depuis, il y a , ça fait … que
6. for (duration) …. il y a (durée) que
7. it takes (duration) …. en (durée)
8. in + point in the future ….  dans + moment futur

• I have been waiting for the bus since 3:30 p.m.
• J’attends le bus depuis 15h30.
• Since I’ve begun studying with FRENCH ETC., I’ve made lots of progress.
• Depuis que je fais du français avec FRENCH ETC., je fais beaucoup de progrès.
• I started studying French with FRENCH ETC. six months ago.
• J’ai commencé à faire du français avec FRENCH ETC. i Il y a six mois.
• I’ve been studying French with FRENCH ETC. for six months.
• Ça fait six mois que je fais du français avec FRENCH ETC.
• It will take me an hour to complete my FRENCH ETC. homework.
• Je ferai mon français de FRENCH ETC. en une heure.
• I will study French with FRENCH ETC. in a week.
• Je ferai du français avec FRENCH ETC. dans une semaine.
