Today’s expression is “y’a des travaux“. However, as often in our Mot du Jour, you can also learn other expressions, such as Ben dis-donc, y’a, and t’entends. “y’a des travaux” means “they are remodeling, to have work done”. Sometimes, it’s used with the verb avoir (to have), sometimes with faire (to make, to do), or with faire faire (to have done).
“Ben dis-donc, y’a des travaux dans la rue aujourd’hui. T’entends pas les coups de marteau et la perceuse ? J’peux pas faire ma baladodiffusion tranquille.”
“Geez! There is work being done in the street today. Don’t you hear the hammering and drilling? I can’t do my podcast in peace.”
